The couple recommends this book! An entertaining history of the Ottoman Empire, the predecessor to modern day Turkey.
“This was an Islamic empire, though many of its subjects were not Muslim, and it made no effort to convert them. It controlled the thoroughfares between East and West, but it was not very interested in trade. It was, by common consent, a Turkish empire, but most of its dignitaries and officers, and its shock troops, too, were Balkan Slavs. Its ceremonial was Byzantine, its dignity Persian, its wealth Egyptian, its letters Arabic. ”

Many of our close friends work on the go! We totally understand–it’s our lifestyle. Here are some local co-workings that we have scoped out in Antalya which offer day passes, reliable WiFi, and meeting rooms.

FAQs
-
The wedding ceremony will be held in the Old Town of Antalya. The wedding reception will be held in the Lara neighborhood. Other scheduled activities are throughout town – see locations designated above with the 📍.
-
Yes, Uber is available and affordable in Antalya. Short rides are usually $3-5. While taxis are also common, we recommend Uber for better pricing. Finally, the couple has two large vans reserved to help with transport. We recommend you keep an eye on the WhatsApp group to catch a ride with these.
-
Some US providers, like T-Mobile and Google Fi, offer limited coverage in Turkey. But we strongly recommend you consider an eSim, which can be bought and installed in 10 minutes on almost any iPhone and many Android devices. For eSims, we recommend Airalo! A pro tip from digital nomads is to have this bought and ready before you reach your destination. Then as soon as you hit the ground, you can install the SIM card and call friends and family or grab an Uber from the airport.
-
There are many taxis outside the airport. A cheaper option is to have an eSIm installed, as described above, and to grab an Uber. And even better still, let us know when you’ll be arriving and we’ll try and use one of our rented vans to coordinate your pickup!
-
Key parts of the ceremony, and speeches during the reception, will be given in both English and Russian. Important messages in the WhatsApp group will also appear in both languages.
-
Card payment is available almost everywhere. The only exceptions tend to be some street markets and vendors. If you would still like to withdraw cash, there are many ATMs throughout Antalya, although their fees can be as high as 8%. Another option is Western Union, which has a few locations in the city and will allow you to withdraw any sum for a single flat fee.

Please reach out to the bride and groom directly via WhatsApp. General questions can also be asked in the group, of course!
